The presence and openness we cultivate during this gentle and celebratory immersion in the senses and in the art of contemplation will permeate the rest of our daily lives and interactions, be it at work, at home, as artists, and in our inner dialogue.

Our Mission

Terra Magica Immersion is the brain-child of Daniela Miljan and Tatjana Krizmanic. The idea was born after they met at a meditation retreat on Mount Medvednica during the summer of 2018. Daniela, who runs the Integral School of Business Development with her husband, Ivan Miljan, was seeking to reignite her own artistic discipline, and to find a way to bring more creative expression into the businesses she works with. Tatjana, a painter since the age of 14, has had a life-long conviction that art can be a means of opening what she describes as “a novel and distinct gateway” within a person, and that this opening can translate to other areas of his or her life. She described it to Daniela as “learning to truly see”.  They wove their different backgrounds and inspirations together to create week-long immersive experiences in awareness and art, with a focus on different painting media and techniques as a departure point. The workshop will combine morning meditation, awareness exercises, group and individual instruction, and outings in the magical landscape of the Croatian Adriatic Coast and the hillsides of Istrian Peninsula.

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Our workshops are led by artist Tatjana Krizmanic who will offer studio and plein air classes in water based media, pastel or oils. Every workshop focuses on a different medium and materials list is provided upon registration. Each day of the workshop begins with a short session of meditation to calm our minds and bring us into greater contact with our senses. Guided awareness exercises while we explore the landscapes of Istria will help us to frame our creative effort and teach us how unfiltered contact with the world around us provokes a deeper appreciation and creative response. The presence and openness we cultivate during this gentle and celebratory immersion in the senses and in the art of contemplation will permeate the rest of our daily lives and interactions, be it at work, at home, as artists and in our inner dialogue.

We are based on Santa Katarina Island just across the bay from Rovigno (Rovinj) and take occasional excursions to town and surrounding area. We will visit local markets, roam medieval city streets, and gaze at sparkling sea and sunsets while sketching and gathering inspiration for our paintings. Group instruction includes introduction to materials and techniques, intuitive sketching, and training in letting our creative expression guide us in the opening of our potential. Daily studio classes and demonstrations take place in the luxuriously spaceous sunlit ballroom at Villa Santa Katarina. The studio classes allow us to drop into the work and receive one on one instruction from the artist. This is a unique opportunity to learn from Tatjana and develop our own creative expression and insight.
